Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavioral Health (MTSS-B) Tier 2 Team Training! April 14, May 11, and June 4, 2020 ​ ​ ​ ​ Many New Hampshire schools continue to struggle with the complex social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students, especially those who show risk for school failure. Failure to meet these needs not only affects academic achievement, it can also result in negative outcomes such as mental health crises, substance misuse, dropping out of school, risky sexual behavior, and violence. Schools that implement Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Behavioral Health (MTSS-B) have better educational outcomes, improved school culture and climate, and higher staff satisfaction. MTSS-B is an evidence-based framework designed to transform school environments to become less reactive via team-based decision-making and implementation of research-based practices. The MTSS-B framework consists of three levels: (a) Tier 1 (Universal); (b) Tier 2 (Targeted Behavior Support), and, (c) Tier 3 (Individualized Supports). Each Tier is designed to prevent problem behaviors and address the social/emotional needs of students. Tier 2 supports are critical to the health and well-being of students who need additional social/emotional instruction, but schools often fail to put effective Tier 2 supports into place. This 4-day series is for Tier 2 teams that are ready to implement or revamp/renew their Tier 2 systems, data, and practices. Participants will receive in-depth training and hands-on experience in how to form an effective Tier 2 Team, how to use data to identify and effectively support students, several evidence-based social/emotional learning interventions for Tiers 2 supports, how to assess and develop positively focused behavior support plans, and how to work with family members and other stakeholders.
